Photographer’s Note

I was on a bridge when I shot this photo. The Leyte Gulf water was so inviting with its various hues that I had to stop for a swim. I had been riding a rented moped around this quaint fishing village of Guiaun, Samar which offers many scenic coastal vistas. The village harbor is particularly picturesque.

Filipinos from this province claim that the Portuguese Ferdinand Magellan who conducted his explorations under the crown of Spain landed on Homonhon Island on March 16, 1521. Homonhon is part of Guiuan, the southernmost municipality of Eastern Samar that commands a magnificent view of the mighty Pacific Ocean. Most people know about the Leyte landing of Gen. Douglas MacArthur of "I shall return" fame, but it was actually from Guiuan that MacArthur launched his campaign in 1944 to "liberate" the Philippines from the Japanese.

I like the different colours in water of green to blue, light colour and dark colour, also the swimmer in foreground make this picture lovely, but the most beautiful is green environment and splendid sky

Hi Danilo,
I like the way you've framed the shot with the lovely clear water taking center stage. The clump of bushes, the snorkeler, the village and the cloud decorated sky all add splendid enhancements. You shown us well why you just had to get into the water. Detail and color are well done.

Hi Danilo. That water sure does look tempting to jump in. I could stare at the turquoise water all day long. The wide-angle lets us soak up everything very well.

amazing composition, colors and subject. i just can't tell if he jumped or if he is swinmming, it flats out at this point of view.

the whole scene is replete with rural points of interest.

Great POV for this lovely shot. I love the way how the swimming man in water leads us right into the picture. Wonderful colours & tonalities of the water..and I can see the boat and a small hut in the centre of the frame & the row of boats on the right. A great photograph to shoot from this bridge. I would have to have a snorkel here! I think that the sky could have been portrayed more naturally, in a better, lighter blue. However the water in the FG is the main focus here, and you have portrayed it in a most delightful manner. The perfect spot to cool off.
