Photographer’s Note
Life in Bantayan island is first and foremost relaxed and slow. Nothing much happens: Fishermen go out on their boats, children go to school and tricycle drivers wait for customers...
But in a beautiful environment like this, one really doesn't feel like doing much. On this day, I was going to Hilangaan island (in the back) to do some snorkelling and having lunch. It was my 30th birthday and this was the perfect way to celebrate my sharp corner. When the midday sun is strong like here, the beautiful colours of the waters become very clear.
I used a Hoya circular polarizer here.
I'm not too happy about the cropping (placing the palm tree right in the middle), but to frame this view I felt it was necessary, as there were some disturbing things on either side.

Hi Henrik,
I have been at Bantayan last may, if only for a couple of hours.
It indeed is not the ideal compo like you say yourself already. The pump boat disappears almost completely here while you actually can use it very well in a compo. Maybe you could have walked to the right for ca 10m and shoot more diagonal.
Something else you could give some attention is to straighten the horizont.
Colors are good though and you managed the hard light very well.
Regards,
Harko

Hi Henrik,
the classical image of the Philippines we know from the tavel catalogues. A fine picture, but it is a little pity that the boat is half hidden from the palm leaf.
regards
Hartmut
