Photographer’s Note
this is the typical imppression i got from the phillipen people. although a poor country but they were rich in their joys, culture, family, environment, and national resources. these people do not need money to consider themselves wealthy, all they need is the beach and Kareoke! i think they are the worlds friendlist population.

Hi Robert, A kids' smiles are contagious with a great street scene. The B&W medium makes it more perfect. Your notes makes me proud to be Filipino. Thank you and Mabuhay!

Hi Robert, perhaps the politically correct word is "underdeveloped" vs. "poor", poor can mean so many ailments in society; like moral, poor in spirit or economic conditions. And if you were referring to economic conditions it is where we have a huge disparity of wealth. we no longer cal them poor but perhaps "underpriviledged" or "marginalized".
however, education to the public masses is now free so in a few years the "underpriviledged" spin would be diffferent. nonetheless, your comment of being joyful in whatever condition they are proves that we are a resilient lot...and that it is not dictated by external conditions but by the heart.
the photo captures the joy and carefree ideals of the youth. I love the girls peace sign.
thank you and mabuhay!

Hello Robert,
Such incredible joy seen in these children's faces. I think this is coveyed better in black and white because color might distract from their happy faces.
Regards, Tom
