Photographer’s Note
The Our Lady of the Assumption Church was built in the 1800s. It is mostly of Gothic influence as evidenced by its tower and facade.
At the foot of the its main altar is a well known for its healing powers. According to a story, pirates often attacked Christian settlements during the Spanish era and it was during one such attack that the people took refuge behind locked doors of the church. Besieged by the enemies for days, the people run out of food and water. The well miraculously sprang up and since then has become the source of drinking water for the people nearby, especially during droughts.
It is now a center for Marian pilgrimages in the province. On certain occasions, Boholanos come here to invoke special petitions or just to honor the Blessed Vigin.
