Anawangin Cove- to macjake, a photo from Zambales, Central Luzon

Photographer's Note

It seems that I started off early this year with my 1st trip to Zambales. A province 6-hour land and boat trip away from Manila. The photo was quite fresh, taken 2 days ago.

The place was deserted, there were no much tourists there, no lights, no electricity. Spent the night in tents and bonfire. A quite liberating experience from the hustle bustle of Manila.

The wonders of long exposure and filters, and I got to try the black
card technique and this is what I got- thanks to you Craig!! (not bad I guess for the 1st time) My only concern is the beach is a bit OE. But who cares, i wanna show you the overall beauty of this place. hope you do enjoy this image.

A stitching of 3 photos, shot taken around 5pm with a Grad ND8 filter, and Grad Sunset Filter.

Hello Matt,

An amazing nature shot with magical colors created by the natural light. I like the rocks in the foreground giving a nice frame with the beautiful view of the mountains in the back. A very sharp and colorful image.

Hello Matt - Looks to me as if you did a very good job with a new technique, did you dodge and burn with a black card during exposure and in addition to the use of filters? You have captured the FG well, the beach is a little OE but I think you have produced a very attractive shot. The place you went to sounds magical. Warm regards Rosemary

A wonderful corner in nature, great composition with the rocks in the foreground give a remarkable 3D effect. this beautiful blue sea and the colors of sunset in the mountains.

this is a cracking picture. the composition is superb and the effects are terrific. love the foreground rocks and the effect of the longer exposure on the waves and water. the sunlight falling on the hillsides is wonderful and has resulted in beautiful warm colours and a lovely atmospheric image. excellent technique.

like the play of light over the mountains range & green foliage...nice orange tone texture sky...

i'm glad that you tried the Black Card Technique!
always fun to try new things right!
Just be careful, as its really easy to leave a noticeable line where the black card was held - thats why you have to move it continually.
and yes, i would say this one was very successful.
Its a pleasure to view, and i bet even more of a pleasure to see in person! :)

With the exposure that you put in the camera, got a good effect on the water, but it burned a little shoreline.
Anyway, the place is beautiful and the colors are beautiful and with good contrast.

Lucky Craig getting a present like this. The landscape is extraordinary and there's so much skill that went into capturing it. Fantastic pastel colours, amazing definition, particularly of the rocks amd superb light-play on the hills in the background. And I'statung the obvious when I say the slow shutter speed had had a superb effect on the water. COngrats and Happy New Year to you.

fantastic effect with a filter. I think is fabulous pic. The beach is maybe a bit OE, but for me it looks fantastic if you would not mention about that. I'm interested in those filters but I don't know much what are different between them and so on.

Great shot Matt, when I looked at it my first thought was, why is the bit in the middle over exposed but I think you answered it in your note, you are correct when saying that the beauty of this place is worth showing & its beauty certainly overrides that small OV area. Well captured & nice PP work. I think I need to purchase a ND filter & this type of photography a go. Well done
