[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Farmers in the Philippines (and most of Asia) have one of the most difficult jobs. Rain or shine, they till, plant and maintain the ricefields....and most them do it the old-fashion way since only a few can afford the modern machineries. Remarkably, despite all the hardships, they never fail to deliver. A farmer here is halfway done in planting the ricefields.

Belle composition pour ce joli noir et blanc où tu exploites au mieux les reflets de l'homme et de la végétation.
Amicalement
JJ

great bw shot that shows the dignity and hardship of work

Hi Alford,

Good atmosphere shot! Nice choice of B&W. Crisp and clear details. The reflections on the water is a nice touch adding to the mood. Intersting note.

Cheers,
Guru

PS: I have been shooting rice fields recently in South India. Know what shot I have missed now.

A beautiful subject, so well pictured with this graphic and pure backlight.

That is just a beautifully balanced composition, Alford. One of the better vertical format compos I've seen in quite a while. No nitpicks whatsoever.
Well done,
Francis

Hi Alford,
it's a beautiful B&W work, this one is really good.
And this reflection is nice.
Regards
Philippe

Hi Alford

Great vertical comp. Really nice reflection. Very sharp and a good b&w conversion. Farmers here in South Korea have been hard at work planting rice, but most use machinery now. Anyhow good work.
Ben

Lovely piece of black and white work here Alford, which further enhances the reflection in the water. Nicely done.

Hi Alford,

nice capture of working man. This picture summarizes the daily work life of farmers. Good POV and cadrage. TFS.

regards,
Hakan

A well balanced B&W compostion, love the contrast of the reflection in the clear water while he stands between the rice.

hello ALford,

Fantastic b&w shot, very nice compo with the reflection and the ricepaddies. I like it very much, a great dailylife scene.
greetings, inn

Hi Alford,

first of all thank you for your kind words recarding my post. I can say the same thing about this one. That's pure photography sense. The picture is perfect by itself but you decided to enhance it even more, converting it into b&w. There is something in this picture that makes me put in my favorites. Thanks for sharing!
Regards,
Carlos

Hi Alford, this is a classic photo. I like the composition very much showing the farmer's progress though one may not see how big the ricefield is, the viewer still has the perception of how much work there is by the look of the unplanted bundles in the foreground. Thanks for sharing...

Alex

Nice one, Alford. I like the use of intersecting angles, and perspective. Good contrast levels, and use of reflection. Nice depth and composition. It is a pretty and interesting photo. Very good photodocumentary style presentation. I dare say you could become a voice for the Philippines. Keep it up!
