Photographer’s Note
Ok so maybe it's not a lost world, but this little village (Bang-an) does hold a somewhat agrarian existance. Far removed from civilisation, it is about 45 mins drive from the town of Banaue on a bumpy dirt road through the mountains. I didn't hike down into the village, although it is possible to do so. I vignetted the image and used some green filters to enhance the shot.
Workshop: ive also included a version where the village itself is less green and retaining more of its original browns.

The vignetting does help to focus the view on the village. Good to see a village without satellite dishes in this day and age. I like the compositioning and feel of this image. Well done.

Good vantage point looking down. The green filters were a good idea. Though, I think this is a wonderful picture, I would like to see it without the vignetting as well. I do appreciate the feel you were going for emphasizing the village. A nice shot of a far-off village.

nice shot but i don't like the green tint. it would have been better to select the green regions and increase their saturation and leave the village color normal. the vigneting is ok but the fact that it's not symtric is a minus, i think the shot would be better without the vignetting.

Very nice picture even if I found the right up corner a bit dark.
Have a nice day

Hello David,
Wow! This definitely looks like something out of a fairy tale. The colours are vibrant and look fantastic, the blackening around the edges is a great effect. Thanks for sharing,
Jules

Hello, David!
This shot really works! I like these terraces, vanishing in the shadows - it really suits the title! Fantastic colors and good contrast.

Greg

a very popular scene- the bangaan village! excellent POV and control of lighting. i like the vast green surroundings and you putting the subject a little to the right. where were you when you took this shot..aboard madame GM's presidential chopper? was there in 2005 and got uploads of this, too. Magaling!! TA for sharing, dave.

Hi David, I think your shots of the philippines are amazing. You really have captured the beauty. I've checked out the WS and I think I prefer the browns. There is very little difference to my eye. I agree with other critiques and would like to see it without vignetting, or have it more symmetric. The upper right corner is a little too dark or depending on your pov, the lower left is not dark enough... The POV is great, the placement of the village in the shot is excellent.

I've been to this place before. Pity that I don't have a camera with me then. You really captured the place well! The beauty and peacefulness of the town can be seen in your photo.

Hi David,
Wow, this place looks amazing. Your pov makes it rather dramatic. Really gives a sense of isolation. Nice rich colours and a great light.
Well done!!
:) Tina

Such a pleasure to browse your gallery David, as a french as i am, this sounds so exotic and far away from home. This is exactly why i love TE, for galleries like yours, sharing and showing about the world.
Tremendous shot here

Hi David,
Thanks for showing me this place again. I was there in 2002, and took some pictures from the hard, but nice hike down to Bang'an and up again, BUT I lost my camera in Boracay (not digital) - DAMN.
I am quite certain that the pictures, I took could not measure op with this one. You really caught and created a wonderful sense of this secluded place.
Going straight to my favorites!!
Henrik
