Photographer’s Note
More than 500 years ago, the Igorots ("highlanders" in a local langauge), a race of warriors, craftsmen, traders and farmers carved these mountains to make irrigated ricefields. It is a feat to make them, but it is just as amazing that they survive to this very day, together with the culture that made them survive.
Now, their very existence is threatened owing to the fact that many young Igorots have lost interest in farming and maintaining the fields, prefering to work in the lowlands to earn more. Progress is now eating away the culture that made these terraced ricefields survive.

Very beautiful shot of the terraces Emer! Clear and sharp composition! It's amazing how these were made without using any modern equipment or tools! and very informative notes too! Good work!
