Photographer’s Note

In stark contrast to the laughing, energetic children who usually surrounded us, this aging woman had a haunting and sad stare and didn't even seem to notice the camera. Taken near the railroad tracks in an area the locals call simply "the squatter area".

A powerful shot, David. She does indeed look sad, and I wonder if the lines on her face are etched out of pain - the bone structure of her arms is extraordinary. Great portrait - well done. Shallower dof may be good and I'd crop a little tighter on the left.

Nice portrait David..
I like it mainly because of the background shosen. The stripes on the wall are a very welcome to give dynamism to the picture.

Hi David! Amazing shot! Clarity and colors are excellent! Very interesting you took this from the squatter's area - people there don't mind being photographed, they have usually too many things running in their minds. This is a very beautiful and typical representation of a daily life scene! Great shot! rgds!
