THIS is what my hometown is proud of - The Mayon Volcano. It's the world’s most perfect cone and is considered by many people to be more beautiful than Mt. Fuji in Japan (I don't know if I gave justice to it). Her name was derived from the Bicol word “Magayon,” which literally means beautiful. Standing at 2,462 metres, Mayon is classified by volcanologists as a stratovolcano (composite volcano). Its symmetric cone was formed through alternate pyroclastic and lava flows. Mayon is the most active volcano in the Philippines, having erupted around 50 times for the past 400 years. The last eruption was in 2006. This photo was shot at around 6:30 am on top of Lingnon hill in Daraga Town (15 minutes by walking from my home).

Hi Tom! Your photo is very beautiful! You really showed us how great Mt. Mayon is. I wonder if you took a shot when the sun is already up and the lighting is better, maybe the photo would be more beautiful! I'm planning to go there next month, hopefully the weather is fine and I can take some photos. rgds.

I just found out about you when I was notified by TE that you picked me as one of your favorite. I really appreciate that. It is also nice to know that another "Kabayan" has joined TE. I hope you enjoy it.
Your photo here is the best photo of Mayon volcano I have seen so far on TE. Your point of view is terrific and the composition is made better by the natural framing of the tree branch that complements the graceful curve of Mayon. You also have proper exposure to have the fields clear so it enhances the mountain. very well done Tom.

Hi Tom, as always Mayon is beautiful and impressive. your photo is very beautiful. I just have few inputs hope you don't mind. I would have crop the lower portion and tilt is to the left. i just find the tree brank too distracting but thats just perfectionist of me overall still a beautiful photo...rgds

Very nice view of this impressive volcano with such a pure geometry. The light is relatively well managed and the colors are nice and natural. Thanks for sharing this interesting landscape !

Hi Tam, Good perspective of this cone-shaped volcano. I was near here in mid 90s and recall it dominating the landscape as you have shown. Very good note. Colour and clarity are very good. Rgds Murray.

I like how the fields in the bottom look like if they were toys.
