[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Last Feb. I took this photo on my way back to the US. After taking off from Quetta airport the plane circles over Quetta valley to gain altitude. Here you have the whole Quetta valley with its three famous mountains in the view: to the upper right is Chiltan, upper left is Murdar, and Takatu is accross the bottom of the frame. These rugged and barren mountains are thousands of feet higher than the valley below which itself is 5500 feet above sea level. With less than 10 inches of rain per year this area is quite a site from above, almost Mars like. Down below this valley is full of life, real life for almost half a million people.
I love these mountains and this valley where I was born. Its air may not be as pure, fresh and healthy as it used to be, its streets may not be as clean and freindly as they used to be, its water may not be as sweet, cool, and healthy as it used to be. Its winters may not be as snowy as they used to be.
But what didn't change is its tall and brave mountains and the valleys, and friends and family and my love for them all.
Hasan
