Photographer’s Note
There is no better way...then to start your day with 'Halva Puri'
Halva is a sweet made from semolina, dry semolina is first roasted in a deep pan in a bit of desi ghee (butter oil) and when it turns golden brown, thick sugar syrup is poured in while stirring. Halva is served garnished with slivered nuts.
Puri is most commonly served at breakfast and also served at special or ceremonial functions; such as the day of Mehndi in a Pakistani wedding marathon.
Puri is prepared from dough of atta (wheat flour) and salt, by spreading it out in a circle the size of one's palm and deep frying in ghee or vegetable oil. While frying, the bread puffs up. After it becomes golden-brown in color, its removed from the pan and is served hot along with some accompaniment most commonly Halva or Chickpea Masala.

Hi Kamran
A superb daily life scene with reasonable sharpness & good motion blur of the hands & dough. Excellent colour & framing. Tfs!

Hello Kamran. Trying local food, and watching how it is prepared, is one of the most pleasant ways to get to know a certain place or country. So your photo here about the Puri is a good educational piece that is very suitable for TE. The simple kitchen setting is well captured, and the moving hands of the guy preparing the batter bring some dynamism. Interesting shot.

Assalamalaikum Kamran, long time. This looks close to the 'Bhatura' we have here in India with is generally eaten with 'cholay' the paratha with the halwa is about 10 times this size. I love this precious insight into the culture and streetlife of your country which doesnt seem much different from mine. Thanks. I hope you are far away from all the trouble thats happening.

Hello Kamran,
Being a diabetic I'd rather keep away from Halva puri, but on my recent trip to India I started almost every day with a Puri bhaji, and I loved it. I also love this picture because we see the puri in various stages of preparations. A nice composition and very fine light. This is certainly "daily life", also "food", I would say.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi Kamran.
Another excellent daily life portrait style shot, with an interesting note. The blurry hands add a touch of dynamism to the shot, when the man's static pose might have been a little dull. The angle of view, looking over the large pan with its hint of flame below, is very pleasing. I just had a lunch out in a restaurant, but your note makes me hungry again!
Hope things are going well with the young one.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Kamran, long time no hear. My mouth is watering at this excellent shot of Daily Life. It sounds delicious, I'm going to try and find this on the weekend. The action shot itself is superb. You've used just the right shutter speed to give us the movement that is so necessary. Congratulations, Lisa.

Salam Kamran. I have just returned from Malaysia and Singapore where I enjoyed food cooked in this manner. Roti, puri, murtabak, naan...Nice action shot and composition in which we can follow aspects of your note. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Kamran,
Lovely scene of daily life, I only wish I'd tried 'halva puri', then I could have an opinion myself! The selective focus on the chef is perfect yet you also present the cooking wares enough for us to have some context. The slow shutter effect on his hands is an added bonus!
all the best
