This girl walking down a street in Quetta doesn't quite seem to appreciate my camera pointing towards her. I, however, appreciated her pink "shalwar kameez" and her red shawl. Besides, I had already taken some pictures of old men in the same street (posted on TE recently) and needed a change.
This picture from 1973 was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

What a surroudings! The face in this moment fits very well to these facades, though I think she also is able to smile. Yes, merciless photographers can be annoying ... ;-)
Once again, what a living space!
Greetings from cold Germany!

Lovely (photograph) background well lighted, a young woman with her shadow expanding down to the left bottom corner of your shot. That's great, even if she is not pleased by you!

Hi Gert, I like the contrast between her vivid shalwar kameez and the texture of the concrete and brick behind her. Having lived in Pakistan, I know it's not easy to photograph females there, so well done on this sterling effort. 1973? It seems things haven't changed much...this could've been a scene from Lahore in 2005.

a perfect illustration for a book or at least a short story :)
This photo is filled with sunshine and emotions, and I like this unknown girl's look! It's amazing how you managed to capture her in motion, the posture, the angle. And it's so good that she is still sunlit, not in the shade.
These distinctive surroundings look like quite alien to her. She must be from a different world!
Whether she was pleased by your taking a photo of her, or not, - now we can see a very good, interesting photo :)

A perfect composition and I especially appreciate that you managed to get the complete shadow inside the frame (a small detail, but still quite important). Her colours are very fine against the drab background.
Gunnar (what, me worry)

Over 35 years ago! I wonder what she is doing now. The pretty colours of her clothing are in stark contrast to the shabby background. You framed the image very well without cropping the shadow and still leaving plenty of room in front of her. Good quality scan too.

A change you wanted from the old men and a change you got.
You've captued the 'surprised' look very well, the expression is unlive many Pakistanis, which is of hiding and shying away.
Thanks for sharing

I like how bright and cheerful she looks against the run down broken buildings in the background. Nicely composed Gert.
