Photographer’s Note
The upper Swat is characterized as an Monsoon-Prevailing Sluggish-River Ecology (MRSRE), i.e. it constitutes cold water which flows in torrents. It is an environment preferred by trout; so visitors should make an effort to enjoy the fish when travelling to Kalam/Ushu. The river has a profound effect on the climate of the valley. I can attest that my visit in October was most pleasant, even with the chilly nights.
