Photographer’s Note
Having grown up in Perth (Australia not Scotland) I am somewhat used to high temperature, but midday in Multan in summer is something else. Humid and dusty as well as blistering heat.
It was to have a shower and moments later be covered once again in sweat and dust.
In this market there was also a swarm of little biting flies to contend with too.

Good market street scene. THe overhead coverings lining the street help frame the busy shot.
Good sense of mood and place.

Though I have been to Perth Australia but not Multan and I had the same image of Multan in my mind, it is well shot but I can't assess the heat as here it is now getting cold..

A great street shot here from Punjab. Your description of the weather together with the scene really makes for a wonderful setting. It seems like a great street to explore. Very nicely done. It looks like a photo taken yesterday.

Hi Stephen,
I like this report photo. Shows movement of the crowd and busy atmosphere. Despite so many details I do not find it chaotic.
Best wishes,
Michal

Very interesting ! And funny that you remember the flies so long after - it's about the same time that I was there, but in the winter, so not too many insects...
I like this repetition of wooden poles, it makes a great perspective... I like a lot these travel photos, specially from these areas not so much visited !

Cath.

Hi Steve,
Amazing shot of the local market. I have heard that the people of Pakistan do not like to be photographed. This has a excellent image quality despite scaning from film.
Have a nice day, Hisashi

Hi Steve
So you've been to the city of Saints!
The colors are just perfect in this shot and the sharpness is great, depicting the heat.
Its quite a typical 'bazaar' scene captured beautifully. The out of focus crate of soft drinks was a bit too close to avoid I guess.
It'll be interesting to see some more photos of the mausoleums.
Thanks for sharing

Hello Steve,.
I like the depth created in this picture by the tarpaulins and the wooden poles. They seem to drag me forward, into the maze of people and goods. The light is remarkably soft, considering the strong contrasts I imagine there must have been.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Stephen
Interesting street view of this popular market.. technically I appreciate it dates back to 1992... so I will not add comments about exposure or whatever ;-)
I am in Perth now and appreciate the hot weather... but indeed as far as I can judge it is by no way what it is in very humid climates... not to mention the often welcome Freo doctor.
... flies can be a hassle here in the forests, but up to now it is OK in the city itself.
Regards Eric /.

Hi Steve
I am drawn into this busy market scene - but it is the endless row of canvas covering which really frame the activity below. A good scan. A great capture and tfs, Marlene
