Photographer’s Note
The wide pillars of the Shah Burj Gate in the Lahore Fort mark, to the left, the beginning of the Picture-Wall. They each feature three major inlays of which only 1 remains in situ. This inlay is the most stunning.
The tree (Norse: Yggdrasil) serves as metaphor for life itself. We are born into the dark womb - the earth - and then emerge into the light of day. Depending on the environment and the nature of the soil itself, we flourish - gaining in stature and character with the years - eventually bringing forth fruit. The tree of life appears in many cultures including those of China and South Asia.
