Photographer’s Note

The picture-wall is the most unique attraction of the Lahore Fort. The wall was created by the Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great in the 16th century - circa 1566 AD. In my many travels in the sub-continent, I have seen no feature in any fort or castle to compare with it, including Gwalior. Unfortunately, there has been no money to restore it to near original condition. Also, it is somewhat out of the way and tourists do not normally venture into the grounds nor exit from the Shah Burj Gate. The tiles on the wall are glazed, and the openings in the upper sections are for pigeons (pigeon-holes).
