This photo was taken by me today inside the Khewra Salt mine at Khewra in the Punjab province in Pakistan.
The Khewra salt mine is the world's second biggest after a mine in Poland. Salt was discovered here in about 325 B.C when the horses of Alexander the Great's troops wre observed licking the ground. The mine itself is a natural wonder and here you can see the beautiful salt formation on the walls and ceiling. A few more photos from the mine will follow this coming week.
