Bhong mosque (200 km South of Bahawalpur) was commissioned by the local wealthy landowner and took 50 years (1932-83) to complete, attracting craftsmen from various regions of Pakistan and India. It received Agha Khan Architectural Award in 1986.
It's very colourful and I am sure to post more photos in colour... here i wanted to emphasise the shapes and subtleties of the design.

Nice photo. The mosque looks very nice. The blue tone works very well here and specially to highlight the details of the building which the colour would have diffused.

I'm amazed. This mosque is in such a remote part of Pakistan that even people from urban Pakistan seldom visit it. By the way Bhong used to be a princely state in British India. The king/ "Raees" of Bhong built this mosque, using gold and gold plated metal parts liberally. We've had the good fortune of having the present Raees Bhong as our host and stayed over night in his beautiful palace that looks like some fairytale place. Thanks for sharing.
