Photographer’s Note
This settlement is on the right bank of the Sutlej River - one of the five rivers of the Punjab. It is positioned on the main highway which runs south from Multan to Bahawalpur (a total distance of 94 kilometres) - (the latter a town of about 400,000 persons) - at a distance of approximately 10 kilometres from the latter, and at the entry point to the Adamwahan (Empress) Bridge. While it is generally stated that the Cholistan Desert starts to the east of Bahawalpur, in all practical regards it extends north to the right bank of the Sutlej. The Cholistan combines with the Thar Desert in India. Life here is hard!
