Photographer’s Note

Bhaktapur, is an ancient and beautiful city in the Kathmandu valley. It is built on a hill, so steep that motor vehicles cannot enter the city. The street are full of farmers and traders from the hill farms, selling their produce to the city dwellers. This couple is selling dried fish, probably from the lake at Pokhara. Dried fish is a staple thought out Asia as it is the most ancient and low tech was of preserving food. It is an important source of preteen for many Asian people.
