Photographer’s Note
A pony train works its way up the Kali Gandaki River bed near Khobang.
The large white monasteries of Khobang can be seen along the base of the mountain. This is a very interesting town with houses built inside enclosed courtyards for protection from the fierce winds that can blow through the valley most days.
During the dryer parts of the year travelers leave the narrow trail and walk on the river bed. This is the deepest gorge in the world with 20,000' peaks rising on both sides. This is the land of the Annapurnas and of Dhaulagiri, massive mountains that spend the year encased in snow and ice.
(I have a number of pictures from Khobang on my pBase site.)

Nice colors and very sharp. The wide grey riverbed is a nice horizontal contrast to the towering vertical peaks. The buildings in the distance really add to the scale of the place. Perhaps if you had gotten lower to the ground a more dramatic image could have been had but still, nicely seen and well photographed picture of an amazing place.

realy nice one Bob,
Great composition, with a nice depth, I like the grit in front, in contrast with the big mountains. Very good work, I like it.

One of the most fabulous places I ever went hiking. I met alot of people in Nepal for the second, third, fourth, etc. visit. That says something about this place's attraction.
