[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the view from Kala Pattar of Mt Everest, the tallest mountain on Earth. Everest of course is the black peak in centre of the shot. The seemingly higher peak to the right is Lhotse. The summit of Kala Pattar (a "hill" across the valley from Everest - 5545m high!) is made up of scattered broken rocks, some of which have been piled up into cairns, strewn with prayer flags flapping in the icy wind. They made a perfect colourful foreground for this picture.

Phillip, very bright colours and sharp focus, although those small flags take up a bit too much space it is still impresive..

Everything is good: colour, light, and compo. Not much to say!
I like the fact that the flags look like another summit on the left.
A really nice picture.

Hi Phillip.
Très bien vu ce cadrage, j'aime bien ce qui en ressort.
Les teintes sont splendides, pas mal de contraste...j'aime bien.
La partie de gauche forme un 3ème pics mais colorés...bien fait.
Jolie prise

Great photo Phillip, Stunning scenery with good colours. I like the prayer flags in the foreground, finishes the shot off nicely, thanks for sharing, regards John.

Next excellent photo :) In my opinion the only thing that could be different is the way of exposing the prayer flags, but that's only my tiny tiny thought :) Wojciech

Hi Phillip!
Lovely perspective from Kala Pathar with prayer flags in the foreground.
BTW, the peak to the right is Nupste and not Lhotse. I have been there thrice, so don't mind my pointing it out.

Phillip,
It's one of the best pictures with Himalayas I have ever seen. Well used filter - the colour of the sky is perfect.
Take care

hi philip

looking to see more from you..
Best regards

Hi Phillip - the combination of prayer flags with the himalayas are one of my favourite cliches, the well staurated colours thanks to the low light makes it even more appealing.

Maybe a bit overexposed, but very beautiful!

Hi Philip, this the exact shot that I tried to get from the top of Kala Pattar. However, I was completely tired, weared out and oxygen deprived. I didn't realize that the mountain in the back is higher than the smaller in the forground. I was alone, no one there to correct my error. I discovered my capital error just when I was back at home, enough oxygen available again for my gray matter, to see at one glance what happenend. In normal circumstances such an error never would have occured, but at an heart rate of 150/ minute and respiratory rate of 42/ minute I was completely uncapable to really see what was going around.
The colorful fg is great and I still have the noise of those flags in my ears.
Have a wonderful weekend, Peter

What I really like about this photo is the inclusion of the prayer flags in the for ground and the good use of the dof, very good and a real pleasure to see.

Simon

Superb. Colors are well balanced, and the dramatic contrast of the color of the prayer flags against the white mountains is beautiful.

I can't think of a bad photo that I've seen of trekking in Nepal. Just seems like they all turn out with deep blue skies, and comparable drama (for lack of a better word...only half a cup of coffee so far this AM).

Great job.

Hi Philip,
excellent shot with the colourful prayer flag on the foreground that contour very well the stunning peaks on the back.
Great colours and sharpness.
A smile
Luca

Wow, again another perfect picture from mountains. Well done. The colours and composition is magnificent!
