The town of Patan, is on the south bank of the Bagmati River, running throgh Kathmandu, & is virtually an outer suburb. This is the spectacular late afternoon view from the rooftop of my hotel. A 210 mm lens & tripod were used. Kathmandu / Patan / Bhaktapur, have a combined population of 3.2 million people. Views like this are becoming increasingly rare, due to smog.

Excelent panoramic perspective from your hotel catching the rooftops of the town and giving us this spectular amplitude and detailed scenery of the beautiful Himalayas mountain. Good light, contrast and fine sharpnes. The enquadrement is very good for this view.
Congratulations and Best Regards.

You allways surprise me with the wonderful places you present to us! Great view. Good composition, with the town on the bottom and those marvellous Himalayas mountains in the background. Nice contrasts on the town.
Thanks a lot,
Have a nice week,

Well you were lucky to have no smog to be able to enjoy this view, I like here the 3 layers, town, hills, high peaks. I'm wondering, how high is the city ?
Have a nice day,

Bonjour mon ami Chris,
Nous quittons les lieux "sauvages" pour retrouver la ville. Si je comprends bien, la pollution s'est emparée de ces lieux, qui avaient pourtant fière allure en l'an 2000.
Je continue le voyage avec grand plaisir.

Hi Chris - breathtaking view on top with a choking one at the bottom, fascinating mix of urban and himalayan, the smog is not evident here, but I sure saw it in March 2000, 2 months after this this photo was taken.

Grand landscape chris well composed with depth and perspective. Of course the background mountains very impressive. Maybe the scanning here is not the best !?

Nepal is such a stunning country. I like the juxtaposition of the modern city and the raw mountains beyond. Spectacular shot!

yes it's a nice view Chris,
the composition is realy great, a lot of your shots are scanned, I think when you took them with a new digital camera, wauw, the quality was then just perfect I think. Your look on compositions is good and thats a fact. Very good job.

Great picture Chris.
A panoramic view of this interesting city and the impressive mountains. Very well captured, the colours contrasts and sharpness are very good. Lovely place. Great composition.

Nice point of view here Chris! The white mountains make a nice punctuation for the city and darker mountains in front. Very lovely, though just a bit overexposed on my monitor.

Chris, this panoram with a city and mountains taked several themes like: Nature, Arquitecture and Daily life. Congratulations, because the point of view is the secret and the contrast was beautiful.

Hi Chris. What's amazing to me that you took this with a 210mm lens. I would have imagined something much wider to fit this huge place in. You were fortunate to be there on such a clear day as it had a very positive effect on the shot. Very nice one Chris.

Guten morgen Chris,
a fine example of the 'shrinking' distance by 'tele' means. Colorful and despite the scan good sharpness.
I like the composition with the different mountain layers behind the town; well done.

Very beautiful Hymamlaian landscape above the big town.
Nice view from the celeb mountain so tight to civilisation by the tele effect.
I like it

This photo shows well the mightiness of the himalayas ...
nice capture ... I like the fact that you have tightly cropped the street at bottom as it adds a good interest to the picture
