Technically speaking, this shot is mediocre IMO, but it's expressive. Kathmandu like any giant city has it's social extremes. I watched this girl for a several minutus. She was unaware of the photograph and I think, like so many street people, she was mentally ill.

Excellent document. In oposition to YO, I think this is a technically good photo because you employed a shallow DOF and "isolated" this girl in her real life ...
It could not be better !...

man, you are good, I like your pictures, at least those from Nepal... this one is another your good shot, you photograph people very well. I am not interested in techincal aspect of this shot, I don't care, why? feelings, it is enough.... another great shot...
but techincally it is good too, great DOF...

Here the technic does not have any importance only the expression counts! This photography is full with emotion. This woman is beautiful... Bravo scalerman!

Powerful and strong image. Technicaly good, DOF and focus is excellent. Maybe a little too much blue?

Wonderfull picture, though it's very sad. You captured very well the drama of this girl. Looks like she's in the middle of the road, wich adds for the dramatic reality. This is the kind of images that newspapers and magazines pay for. Technically it's a perfect photograph. One might thing it would be underexposed but I guess it's perfect. As is DOP and focus. Great job.

I don't know what you find mediocre in this pic. Like everybody else I find it excellent. Great DOF, just enough blur to isolate this woman but still we can recognize the background as being one of a busy street which enhances the lonelyness of this woman.

I agree with Steeve, long after the trip those shots are still inside of us. I also agree with what you say.You were on the right position to take this one.

Beautiful, haunting picture. This is not a mediocre shot. It is very powerful, and "charming" in its "casualness" and spontaneity. Like you, I like to take pictures of people and I can say that this one is a superior portrait. Ver very well-done.

The pic reveals also something about the photographer. Why do we take this kind of shot? Sometimes the after trip soaks in the skin like a tattoo. Thanks Caleb. Happy New year.

Nice capture. A real slice of street life. Ah, Katmandu - the finest 15th century town on the face of the earth. OK, they have electricity but it still has a mediaeval feel to it.

I agree; technically the bacground is not perfect.
The picture has atmosphere and for me this counts more than a minor technical glitch.

I do not know what comment I should give.. :(
Seeing this photo, I just feel very fortunate for all that I have .. we should always look down to feel lucky..
thanks for sharing these photos that is very touching!
In term of photography, you captured very well the ambient and the expression of this person.. a little bit dark maybe because of the contrast of the daylight but still a very good photo!
All the best my friend,
