Photographer's Note

It was foggy that morning and I couldn't see the Monastery through the mist although the window of my room in the lodge I stayed looked right on the Monastery's gate. There was no desire to get up before the dawn. But someone turned the big sacred drum and the bell attached to it started to ring. It drove my dreams away. I decided not to break the habit, took the camera and tripod and went outside. Only 15 minutes passed as the fog dissipated and I saw Ama-Dablan and rays of the sun rising above the mountain. Certanly a photograph can not document all the beauty of sunrising in the mountains. This picture is a very modest replica. Anyway I am very greatful to the prayer who rotated the drum at 4 in the morning.
