Photographer’s Note

Many people in Nepal, do not have the luxury of bathrooms, and so, they are obliged to bathe at public pumps or in rivers or steams. Here in Butwal, where the river gushes down from the Mahabharat mountains the water is icy cold. In the early morning, I found this woman taking her bath in the river. She is not deterred by the coldness of the water. her towel and toothpaste etc are on a rock, higher up and out of the frame.

Hi Kevin.

I like this photography, entering in her intimacy but with a respectful distance, to show the importance of the river in everyday life. It’s a clever composition, for the position of the lady, but also for the use of a slow shutter that make the stream flow apparent and the hands gesture as well.

Not a bad documentary picture, Kevin - well composed and supportive of your text. The overly reddish hue on the woman disturbs me a bit and I'd like to propose a workshop if you don't mind.

A peacefull scene showing how spoiled we are, not able to miss our luxery anymore, a WS-attempt for some clarity and tiny sharpness.

Good title, and well caught portrait full of interest. I pity we can't see the towel etc out of shot, but I guess you can't do much about where she places them :-)
