Photographer’s Note
This picture was taken on our way from Samar to Chungsi Gompa, a monastery, which is situated in a cave.
On top of this pass, around 3900 meters, we had splendid views, but because of the very strong gusts of wind we couldn't stay up there for too long.
This winter was a very dry one. It was way too warm and there was hardly any snowfall. This means there won't be as much melting water coming down the mountains in spring time as in other years.
Most villages in Upper Mustang just have one crop per year so the lack of water will lead to lots of problems.

Hallo Laura!

Hello Laura,
Superb landscape, especially natural fine sharpness and definition of the distant mountains are exquisite. It is a serious problem for the inhabitants that there was hardly any snowfall. I also have heard a similar problem in Zanskar.

hi Laura
A place that has been a tourist favorite for many.
And your note is very interesting to highlight the problem of this dry spell. Good contrast of the darker color tone from where you stood and the distant mountains in this perspective view.
Good depth and sharpness.
It looks like you wandered about the mountains and explored the area quite well along the way to the monastery.
Good work.
Greetings from Borneo.
tfs, bill
