Photographer’s Note
This scanned photo shows the sunrise over Dhaulagiri, whose name means White Mountain, taken from the Poon Hill viewpoint. It is the seventh highest mountain in the world at 8,201m and really does look a monster to climb from this view.
We saw Dhaulagiri earlier on the Annapurna trek from as from as the Thorung Pass to the north west, but then its shape looked more pyramid-like. It is interesting how its south face looks a lot steeper and flatter but i'm not sure if anyone has climbed it this way. The easier route is from near Tukuche on the Annapurna trail and up the Dhaulagiri Icefall.
