This is the village of Phortse (apparently one of two villages with this name in the Everest area). This shows how steep and rough the terrain is in the Himalaya, and how precarious man's existence there is. The village is perched on the side of a mountain, with sheer drops on all sides. The village is located at the confluence of 2 rivers - the one on the left goes up the Gokyo Valley, and the one in the center goes north to Everest. The mountain in the center is Ama Dablam.

Tu me donnes envie de voir le Népal!
Joli cadrage et couleurs douces dues aux rayons de soleil.

Excellente photo, le cadrage est magnifique et le village sur ce plateau est quasi irréel. Bravo ! /David/

Wow, how do they get goods in and out of there? This shot really makes the town's setting clear. It must be an odd sort of natural plateau. It almost looks as is some giant earth movers leveled off a part of the mountainside to build the town. It's a shame it's so hazy, but this is a really nice shot anyway, Alvin.

I like the way the light beams through the hills on the right, it contrasts well with the left side. And then Ama Dablam right in the middle. Your photo captures something of the massive scale of that place.

Very interesting and beautiful picture.
It's hard to believe people actually live in such extreme and hardly accessible places. The Ama Dablam mountain along with those light beams give a very nice backdrop.

This is a great shot Alvin. I like this one best out of all your Nepal photos. The mountains in the distance seem to be glowing and the different tones of blue make a nice contrast to the earthy colours of the mountainside on the left of the picture. The houses of the village on the plateau help to give this picture scale and make us realise just how large these mountains really are. Cheers . . . David

This is a beautiful capture you have here.I like the steep lines graduating into that background which has a beautifully contrasting colours to the foreground.I was wondering if maybe you had saturated the colours a little to get this result.Anyway the deep colours seem to work really well here and the village completes the composition nicely.

It seems as if gods could be hiding in a place like this. Great POV and beautiful smooth lighting. Good work!

Alvin, this is a stunning picture of Himalayan mountain scenery. It seems incredible that this village can cling to the tiny ledge above this valley. You have a lovely layered effect with the mountains receding up the valley and the very recognisable shape of Ama Dablam looks spectacular in the distance.
