This is a photo from the Gokyo Valley, near the village of Machermo, altitude 4400m. The mountains there are very steep, and very sharp. The rough stone wall shows the preferred building material there, unfinished stone, piled up without cement or mortor (sp?). Even some of the houses are built without anything to hold the stones together or plug the gaps, although for houses the stones are made to fit much closer. Still, it's very cold when it's windy, because you can feel the cold air coming right through.

it's a nice succession of plans you present there. Beautiful colors too, with good framing. Well done.

I like the POV and the colours and sharpness are also fine - the main interest to me though is the dry stone walls - they lead you into the mountains nicely :)

a nice shot - I like all the different lines here, and the shape of the mountain is amazing from this angle. The gaps in that wall are so huge it looks as if they have just balanced any old stones up with no method whatsoever, or maybe its deliberate so the wind wont knock it down so easily?

Really beautiful landscape. You chose right point of shooting. The locals mostly keep yaks in corrals like this. I noticed their morning exercises are to restore fences after the yaks left for browsing in the hills.

Very nice curve of the stone wall leading the eye into the distance, Alvin. I like how you emphasized the culturally interesting aspect of the landscape, that being the wall.

Fabulous mountain scenery, with autumn tints and that impressive jagged peak rising behind the dark cliff. The wall adds an interesting element of civilisation to a wild landscape, and that altitude...gasp!

Majestuous is the first word that came to my mind looking at this photo, the wall then the valley build an effective perspective leading the eye up to the mountain, the colors are great and the peaks impressive !
Have a nice week end,
