Day 3: We walked from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche. You can see many stupas on your way.
What is a stupa?
The Tibetan word is Chorten, which means "the basis of offering".
It is a symbol of enlightened mind, (the awakened mind, universal divinity) and the path to its realisation.
If you had to use just two words, the best definition I have seen is "Spiritual Monument"
The stupa represents the Buddha's body, his speech and his mind, but most especially his mind and every part shows the path to Enlightenment
"The visual impact of the stupa on the observer brings a direct experience of inherent wakefulness and dignity. Stupas continue to be built because of their ability to liberate one simply upon seeing their structure" - Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche
Every stupa contains at the very least a life tree and holy relics:
"When a great teacher passes away, his body is no more, but to indicate that his mind is dwelling forever in an unchanging way in the dharmakaya, one will erect a stupa as a symbol of the mind of the buddhas" - HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

A wonderful and very atmospheric photo - especially when having read your note. This truly is a special place - and a breathtaking one as well. An interesting and beautiful contribution to TE!

A very good compo here, with great use of the parayer flags in the FG.
Landscape is amazing and strong.

You know rarely does placing something this close to the edge of the frame amplify it like this .. but the vastness gives it more purpose and works very well ... beautiful green valley .. difficult sky to manage ... very nice. take care, John

j'aime bien ce cadrage avec une belle profondeur sur la vallée. Les drapeaux amènent une sympathique touche de couleurs. Bien vu.

I admire your composition here, it shows us just where the stupa is situated, and what a wonderful view! I like the panoramic crop, although it might have been nice to show just a little more foreground, as the inclusion of the path may well have benefited the image. Nice work, and thanks for sharing with your informative notes

The stupa atop the mountain with its wonderful vista is engrossing. I like it. Good tech details in this composition. Regards, Danilo

The compo is well built here, with the off centered stupa, giving space for the superb view on the high hills and valley below... a pity the weather didn't help you ,but it is already a fine picture.

It's a stunning image! It illustrates well the interesting note. The compo, the fabulous light, the prayer flags waving with the wind under the sun, the contrast of the clarity and brightness of the FG with the fog and the darkness of the forested slopes, all makes a great image.
Congratulations and TFS.

This point of view shows the wilderness of the place so well!
The low clouds hovering in the valley, the strong diagonals are attractive elements in the composition...
And the spiritual monument is of course the eye-catcher!
