My 200th image is from my recent trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
This photo was taken on the 3rd day of our 12 day trek where we acclimitised at Namche Bazaar (3440 metres). Whilst acclimitising we trekked up another 400 metres to the highest airport in the world and also the highest hotel in the world. As we returned to Namche we noticed a group of trekkers on another path - in fact the path to Tengboche where we would be walking the following morning.
In the distance is the very striking Ama Dablam (6812 metres) which often seemed to accompany us on the journey to Everest Base Camp.

Hi Marlene,This is a first class image to celebrate your 200th post taken on what appears to be a perfect day .The mountain looks stunning dwarfing the trekkers, never having visited the region your composition conveys a wonderful impression of what an experience it must be.Thanks Tom.

Excellent composition here using the foreground mountain to create a diagonal through the shot. The path and hikers lead the eye into the shot giving the photo a sense of direction. The snow covered peak draws the eye through the scene and creates fine contrast for the blue sky and darker foreground.

An excellent picture and an astonishing view. Colours, light and sharpness are all perfect, and the mountainsides form very attractive diagonal lines. The crowd of trekkers add life and colours, but above all they add a bit of absurdity to this scenery. A traffic-jam of a kind halfway up the Everest!

Hi, Marlene -
An excellent composition of the mountain with nice fg interest and balance of elements. I did a small WS to cut back on some of the haze. It's a subtle change, I admit.

A really magnificient landscape! The line of the path in the foreground seems to continue along the steep slopes in the background. The foreground slope forms a cross together with this line. A very harmonic composition and indeed a stunning view!

That is magnificent, truly spectacular.
It's a superb shot, putting the people in the foreground really tells us the story of what lay ahead for you.
Were you lucky to get the sky or is it mostly like that at the time of year you were there???

Today I was in Fortitude Valley with my father booking our next big trip. We are going to Everest base camp in November 2010 and also the Gokyo Lakes on a 20 day trek. Naturally, we hope to have weather as good as this! Researching this area thoroughly now, Ama Dablam seems to be one of the most beautiful peaks in the region. Your selection of Nepal photos on TE are interesting and really give me inspiration towards the trip. I hope this time next year I can add photos to TE of this region to compliment yours. Excellent work, a great life experience.

Hi Marlene, An incredibly steep peak you have photographed well in a suitable composition with plenty of interesting elements. The group of hikers adds a lot of interest as well as helping with scale. TFS. Murray.
