On the trail from Machhermo to Gokyo we passed the first three lakes of the Gokyo valley. This one, the first, is very small, a pond really, in the altitude 4650 metres above sea level and is called Longponga. All the lakes have amazing turquoise colour.
These lakes are the world’s highest freshwater lake system comprising six main lakes, but there are more of them in total. The Gokyo lake system is spread over an area of 196.2 ha lying between 4,600 and 5,100 m. The wetland lies on the head of the Dudh Kosi river, which descends from Cho Oyu.
The Gokyo Lakes are considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists.

Hi Ivana, this is just stunning with the contrast of the whites and the blues-- a great low POV , with the light leading the eye through the pic. to the snow covered mountain in the back. Congrats a excellent image Rich

A superb alpine photo Ivana - great depth of field and great colour to make an excellently composed photo.

This low POV works very well to structure the composition in a few differentiated-well thirds, with the lake that predominates over the image in foreground.
The perspective obtained by this way is magnificent, and gives a great depth to the image.
And the landscape that you offer us is impressively beautiful, indeed.
Good work with the light and with the chromatic quality.

I love your shots of Nepal and this is no exception. Wonderful POV and sharpness with such an amazing backdrop. Excellent - TFS

Fine nature shot, Ivana. Good colours and good choice of format. I suppose the stones were placed on top of each other by pilgrims? It does make the scene even more impressive (to someone like me, being more into all things cultural, rather than into nature for nature's sake).
Have a fine weekend.

You have chosen an excellent POV for this awesome view. The turquoise lake and the blue sky add lovely colour and I particularly enjoy the wispy cloud crossing the white mountain peak. Congratulations.

Very nice vertical composition with a very attractive foreground, great DOF, light very well oriented and the snowy mountain gives a nice charm to all.

Thank you for this very nice view towards Cho Oyu ! The trail turning around the small lake invites us to go further... I suppose that Gokyo Ri appears at the left of the picture ?

Very nice shot. The DOF is excellent thanks to the rocks in the foreground and the many plans to the mountains in the very background. Colours are very natural and sharpness is excellent.

Gorgeous shot, this is terrific location and the elements are all there to reflect such a wonderful image. Great foreground subjects and lead in, with nice snow peaked moutains in the background and great sky. The splash of green color from the lake balances the image composition. Good tones and contrast. Crispy sharp throughout. Great capture.

the clarity is amazing, you can only see something like that at higher altitudes. I like a lot how the stones seem to form a path for the eye to follow into the scene and towards those snow-capped mountains. nice, very nice, looks like you had a great hike :)

Interesting lead-in created with the stones, the dry ones...to the turquoise water. We do see the small offerings in form of piles of stones intermittantly. The icy peak looks good against the blue sky, but perhaps I might have wished to see some details, but as I know exposure here is tough. Good work!

spectacular view and a very attractive composition. I like very much the rocks on the lake in the foreground and how they slowly lead the eye to the magnificent view behind. Fantastic colors of everything: dark green of the lake, brown of the hills...
The covered with snow mountain may be a bit overexposed. I had the same problem in Patagonia, snow in the mountains was so bright that I was often loosing details on the other hand using ND filter would make the sky darker and less natural (unfortunately I tried that) so there is always a choice you have to make.
