Photographer’s Note
We sat for four bumpy hours on an elephant's back lumbering through thick grass so tall it was above our heads and muddy water so deep at times it was nearly up to the elephant's belly, looking for the endangered Indian Rhino in Chitwan National Park. When all seemed lost and we were returning to base, our patience was rewarded by a close encounter with this mother and baby. It was late in the day and the sun was filtered through the forest foliage and the shadows deepened on their amazing folded hide. I am posting this today as a thanks to Bishnu at Jungle Safari Resort who kindly posted me my "save the rhino donation" t-shirt in the correct size. Just a small contribution to a worthy cause.
