Tharu woman in Chitwan. Tharus traditionally wear little clothes, even in winter. Their houses have little or no windows, to keep out ghosts and witches. When thick jungle covered the Terai, only Tharus managed to survive in the mosquito infested terrain, by hunting. Once the USA drained and endlessly sprayed the malaria ridden swamps with DDT in the 70's, then farming was possible. People flocked from India to grab the land. The richest animal habitat at the time, in theworld, was decimated to the small National forests which are left. Poachers are endlessly killing the remaining, rhinos, tigers, etc. for the Chinese market.

Gloria, the 'best' image I've seen from you in some time. It's interesting for a number of reasons: I like the blur which just confuses the surrounding elements enough where the observer has to try to resolve them. You're still on the road - amazing. regards, c
