[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I had just crossed the border into Nepal from India and had been in the country no more than 3 hours. Already I had seen a big fight (over who knows what) resulting in army officers pointing guns into a large crowd, and now this interesting scene.

So you want to learn about the world on this site. I think this photo can show a few differences in the Western world and the developing world. Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't seem to be a good idea to be just standing around a giant gas tanker tipped on its side. Yet, the people don't seem too concerned. We all know the scene would be alot different if this tanker had tipped over in a Canadian street, or European street. The laid-back attitude that is prevalent in Nepal shows here, as people would be panicking in the West. I have posted a workshop showing what they are looking at. A potentially dangerous scenario.

This photo was taken from my bus driving by, hence not a great photo. Yet I wanted to show it on this site, as I believe it is quite interesting. I only managed two snapshots, though I was happy that the driver was eager to drive past as well. I just hope nothing resulted from this.

It's a good photo, taken from a bus or not. It's sharp enough to look like it was taken on the ground. I like it. It's too bad you couldn't combine the two to make a pano. It is an interesting photo, journalistic type really.

As far as comparing it the west - yes, totally different. Plus, they are proably tinking "why is guy taking a picture".

Good color, composition, sharpness, detail and note. Nice title too.

Hi David,
Surprising scene, and of course scary too. I wonder if they were so relaxwd right after the accident, I'd guess it happened some time ago. Good shot, efficient use of the frame.

Hello David -

A very interesting photojournalism image and story. You are right, here in N.A., regardless of what side of the border you are on, no one including the cops and fire would be around this thing. All of the technical stuff looks to spot on. Well seen and documented.

Thank you for sharing.

John

Hi David. I would have to agree with you that this is an awfully dangerous scene here. Incredible that nobody was hurt from an explosion that still could have happened. Good capture here and in the included workshop too.

I had to comment on this photo because the title was so funny. It's a good photo though as well. You captured this very unique moment nicely, and your note was very interesting.
