Photographer’s Note
3 interesting things happening here. The Siva temple (one of the most famous Hindu temples in the sub-continent), the market out front selling religious paraphernalia, & the old British Raj Lions in the background above the gate.
Janakpur is on the Terai, the Nepalese plain adjoining India. It is flat, & very much like India. It's very different to the Kathmandu Valley. I was lucky to get there at all, as my flight was delayed by thick fog until late afternoon. Hundreds of people died that year from the 'cold' & fog, across North India, Southern Nepal & Bangladesh.

Lots of colour and action and an interesting background. Since you missed the very top of the tower I think you may be better to crop just above the lions. What do you think? Anyway, well done - it's a very nice shot.

With a shot like this you've gotta make a quick decision: are you going to focus only on the people selling things or are you going to focus more on the architecture behind them. Here, I think, you were trying to do both at the same time. The cropped top of the building disturbs the otherwise magnificent compo...I think you should have gotten lower and just shot the market scene happening. Looks to be way more interesting than the building.

Lovely colourful scene, are those dyes or spices? Perhaps too much to fit in one frame. Since you couldn't get the tops of the towers I agree with the idea of lowering your PoV and concentrating on the market. I like it better with the top cropped; otherwise there are simply too many places to look

This is beautiful Chris. I can almost hear the noise. I like the way the colors occupy the frame. The vertical composition also looks very appropriate.

Recognized the location from the thumbnail immediately. Certainly seems more of an Indian town than more northern Nepal. You did a good job of catching the bustle here.

A very captivating and colorful image. I like a lot the way you’ve framed the scene with the market forming a diagonal line leading to the gate. In this case I think that the white sky is a bonus as it blends with the palace and doesn’t become distracting from the colors under. I just miss to see the top of the palace completely.
