Photographer’s Note

This picture was taken many years ago on film.It was taken with a Pentax 1000, the beauty of the Pentax was that if the battery failed all you lost was the metering, you then had to apply the f16 rule, Younger photographers may not know this one. The exposure is not good, all I have done to it is to remove a few spots that I found after the slide had been scanned. Photoshop experts could probably improve it greatly, please feel free.
It was taken in Janakpur on the Teri in Nepal. The Teri is the strip of land that joins Nepal to India, it I was staying in one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were very friendly but the hotel offered nothing but mosquitoes.

hey mike,

i think you captured a very fine moment, it's peaceful, nice...the position of the girl is really good, she makes the picture. as for the technical stuff, the light is a little too bright, especially on the ground. i would adjust it a bit in shadow/highlight, and perhaps crop it a little in the bottom and the sides to get rid of some of the ground and get closer to the girl.

Hi Mike,I find this a tranquil image full of atmosphere,the girl gazing at the light striking the flowers, the interesting canopies of the bike taxi ,whether by accident or design ,giving the scene depth, it all comes together so very well.Had you not indicated i would have assumed this was a digital image,i still have my K1000.Thanks Tom.

Beautiful shot! I actually like the distance from the girl, it helps to create atmosphere. Also, the fence at the left leads your eye into the shot and the subjects.
