[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Rice harvest in Nepal. For drying the rice they put the rice on every place and nearly every road in Bhaktapur. Eveyday the rice has to be ventilated, please have a look to the workshop.

Agriculture remains Nepal's principal economic activity, employing 80% of the population and providing 37% of GDP. Only about 20% of the total area is cultivable; another 33% is forested; most of the rest is mountainous. Rice and wheat are the main food crops. The lowland Terai region produces an agricultural surplus, part of which supplies the food-deficient hill areas.

Hi Achim

A superb daily life scene from Nepal, with excellent colour, lighting & sharpness. Tfs!

Hi Achim,
Oh this is rice ??? Amazing discovering the view I was wondering how you connected rice to road works, because it just look like they are rebuilding the city center here, nice image that tells a lot about the world.
Have a nice day JY

Hello Mr President
No birds to eat the grains ?
Very interesting exotic subject, no machines to treat the rice, only the human power here.
Well done.
Cheers.

Namaste Achim,
Great panoramic view over that square, that brings me back fond memories. Besides showing the activity on the place, it is very interesting graphically and the light and sharpness are superb.
I hope you don't mind adding a shot I took 13 years before, not exactly on this place, but still in Bhaktapur.
TFS, Regards, José.

Hello Achim,

What a shot! Looking on the thumbnail I was thinking its a building area but the title absolutely didn't suit:) After opening I was really surpriced with this view. Amazing situation, incredible view, exotic place.

Thanks a lot for sharing.
Best greetings,
Mikeo

Hallo Achim.

Hallo Achim, you posted here a great, a fascinated daily life scene from an exotical country.
Thanks for share it and congratulations.

Hi Achim!
Very good pov to show this local activity. It gives us a good idea of how the place looks like. I like the pattern formed by the rice, the people working and those buildings in background.Very good light and sharpness.

Hello Achim
This is quite unique a shot...never seen rice husked and dried so openly! Together with the brick buildings, unplanned construction, this makes a fine daily life image & from a country so close to mine..yet it's a revelation! Fine work!

Hard to believe this is rice (but I saw scene like that in China). You expected the piles to be made of sand !! And it seems to be so big !! Really unexpected and then interesting.

Hello Achim
astonishing and impressive place for the rice. good WS too !!
a very nice daily life
a good day for you Achim
alain

Achim bonjour.
C'est une excellente photo reportage sur le traitement du riz dans ce pays. La façon de faire rappelle celle qu'on employait jadis dans nos pays pour le blé. La photo nous montre l'étendue de la place et même le travail de ventilation.
Jacques

Hi Achim,

A first look and it seems to be pile of sand. Reading your note, it is the way the rice is dried. The drying area in the foreground leads our eyes toward the houses in the background. The presence of people has an effect of scale. There is a good contrast between the colors. have a nice day.

Pierre

Good POV for this daily life exotic scene. It looks like an excavating or archeological site. Nice catch of movement in the complementar WS.
Best wishes,
ricardo
