In Nepal one of the biggest festivals in Deepavali; the festival of lights, celebrating the festival of the Goddess Latchmi. In the Katmandu Valley the festival is celebrated for several days. One the first, the Newari people worship their parents; on the second day, the crows (as the messengers of the gods) and on the third day they worship dogs. I’m not quite sure why the dogs. But every pouch or flea bitten cur in the valley is decorated with red paste and given a necklace of flowers and treated very well. So, this little pouch is a god for the day and he looks as though he is enjoying his status. Tomorrow he goes back to being just the family pet again.

Hello Kevin,
He looks a bit coy this dog dressed as a god for the day. I like the pose sitting in the corner of the doorway on the doorstep. Good natural colours and excellent clarity. Interesting accompanying note. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kevin, I'm not a real fan of animal fotography, but this one is really cool. That's kind of funny, maybe my humor is a bit strange. But what can I do, situations like these makes me laugh. Cool shot. Like it.
Nino.

hi Kevin

I have seen the red dot on human faces but never on a dog. A fine portrait shot, a great pose. Well composed view.

tfs, bill

Very funny but also interesting scene.

Hi Kevin,
That is learning about the world! A very interesting practice you explain us here(Thus managing to escape the moderators wrath!) I never saw hindus worshipping dogs, quite the opposite actually, as they are regarded as being among the lowest life forms... Funny shot, if I see his unimpressed expression, even the dog doesn't seem used to such attention, compared to the kicks he'll receive again sooner or later!
Greetings
Laurent

Hi Kevin!
That's something I had never heard of. He looks fabulous and very proud, seems he's really posing for the camera on his day of glory. The necklace and the red dot are fabulous. Very well framed. I like the texture of the wall and door. The note is great.

Hello Kevin,

Géniale, cette image ! Les couleurs sont magnifiques, et ce chien a vraiment une bonne tête.
Bonne journée
