Pashupatinah is the Varanasi of Nepal, a holy place of cremation on the banks of Bagmati river. Funeral pyres are visible in the foreground, the river had a low level of water and was dirty during the winter season. Dead bodies must be dipped three times into the river before cremation. Many relatives who join the funeral procession can bath in the river or sprinkle the holy water on their bodies at the end of the cremation. The Bagmati purifies the people spiritually. Source : wiki

A picture from a place like this could hardly ever be beautiful in the ordinary sense, but it is certainly interesting. I remember this place but as far as I can recall some people kept an eye on me sou I shouldn't take any pictures. I did in Varanasi, but I had to pay (and a lot more that first demanded). The strange light and dark water is similar to the burning ghats in Varanasi.

Fine visual of Pashupatinah, a candid view of the holy place along the Bagmati River.
May the spirits of all go on forever,

Interesantan tekst o mestu i trenutku ...
Dobar trenutak snimka, ostrina, kontrast i perspektiva, lepo pokazano mesto i trenutak, lepe boje.
Dobra kompozicija, elpo uhvacen trenutak narodnog obicaja.
Prijatno vece i lepa noc, sve najbolje.
An interesting article on the place and moment ...
Good time recording, sharpness, contrast and perspective, nice place and shown the moment, pretty colors.
Good composition, well captured moment of folk customs.
Have a nice evening and night, all the best.

Good morning Miguel,
A place like this can't leave one person indifferent.
Though, the place looks to be in constant disolation, and maybe the low water level added this feel - you had made the right choice to show it anyway.

Hi Gueguen, I have seen this place from TV documentary. I cannot believe I could see this place through your picture gallery. Wonderfully captured with good light and details although it is scary knowing that this place is to cremate bodies. The debris in the water adds sadness to the atmosphere. This image definitely worth my points. Thank for sharing.

Feliz noche y buena semana.
Saludos muy cordiales.

I remember this place and have uploaded a shot or two to TE. A superb daily life (or should that be death?) shot with a good angled pov to add dynamism. Excellent sharpness, colour and saturation. The river now looks more polluted than I remember it in 2002. Tfs!
