Along Araniko Highway (1)
NOTE: First I wrote about the rute and the growing wheat
Then, Luciano said that he saw lot of canabis or marijuana plants and Subho write telling me where were them
They are at the right framing the woman, as well that covering the BG
I decided to change the title for a more descriptive one
Araniko Highway, connects Kathmandu with Kodari at the border with Tibet (China), it was built by China during the 1963-67 period, long of about 115 kilometres (71 mi), the trip last about 4-5 hours
Wiki said: It is among the most dangerous of highways in Nepal due to extremely steep slopes on each side of the road
Taken from the van
There are impressive landscapes, people working at the fields, animals
Being in a group, not easy to ask for stops, so I decided to take some shots from the window
This woman, well-dressed, was of her way climbing to the route, just for an instant our eyes met and then she and the basket where gone
At the back, terraces where wheat growns

Hi Maria,i see a lot of mariujana plants in this pic..ehehe..it's dangerous to work there for this woman, but maybe is a good work talking about the money,a very nice and original choice of point of view and the usual excellent quality.Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

A roadside picture, Maria, which was taken on maybe a split-second decision - but managed to surprise the lady working on the field. She has an inquisitive look on her face, wondering how this unexpectedly happend to her. Well it is all my assumptions here, the photo tells a lot about women labor on this region.
Also, and of course, a well made photojob.

This is a nice shot of the nepalese lady going about her daily chores. The lady is very well placed in the frame, though she appears a bit perplexed at your attention. I like the contrast of her attire with the green surroundings. Nice shot, thanks for sharing.
P.S. As for your enquiry regarding which is the cannabis tree...you have framed the lady well with the cannabis tree on the right :-) The shrub just behind her is one and there are many in the BG.

'Pigs can fly' takes on a whole new meaning in Nepal! Apparently they are fed it, or eat it to keep them calm. Good sharpness with a superb downward pov and the woman with a basket makes a superb focal point in this unusual daily life scene. Tfs!

I travelled this way in 1972, just to have a look into China at a time when it was very difficult to get a visa. I don't actually remember the road as so dangerous, but maybe I was too young to get scared :-). In those days there were also government licensed hashish shops in Nepal, so no need to look for the plants :-). (I didn't actually care for that stuff.) This is in every way an interesting photo with good colours and a woman who didn't expect to find herself on the internet ;-).

Hola mi amiga,
Based on the "material" we see surrounding this young lady, I would guess perhaps you had indulged, and saw my previous picture in real life as it appears on screen, hmmm?? jaja
A very intriguing photo, and one with wonderful timing to capture a direct regard from the woman below...she makes an immediate connection with the viewer. Nicely achieved from the van, not always an easy thing to obtain from a moving object. Must be difficult labor, and this is a nice depiction of the every day life aspect. Despite the bright sun, you did well to keep the highlights from getting completely overblown.
More importantly though, it's the human element and emotion expressed from this passing moment where you did meet eyes. With the abundance of sunshine, it must have hot outside, I hope you offered her a Coke in passing. :)
Have a great weekend down South. My best wishes from the other half,

this is a very charming picture of the lady from Nepal travelling the mountain path. Perfect moment captured with great spontaneity. The subject is excellently positioned in the frame. The colours and clarity are fine. You managed the bright sunlight really well. Thanks for sharing and have a nice Sunday.

You have posted here an excellent snapshot from daily life. The woman is in very good light and the high angle viewpoint is perfect. I like the arrangement with superb natural background.
Very well done.

For countries and people cannabis is a way of living but for others it is illegal although that way of thinking is now changing even the U.S. While other countries produce opium legally. Very nice capture of this beautiful woman. I like the eye contact with the photographer. Good lighting and nice details. Well done, tfs.

Un portrait très naturel pris sur le vif, le regard vers toi, ça c'est le plus, les couleurs de ces vêtements contraste avec le paysage des champs sec et de montagnes rocheuses, intéressante note et présentation
Belle soirée a toi

the picture is lovely and the note which accompanies it adds very much information and context to the scene. The higher POV you decided to choose influences the perspective in quite original way. The woman glanced up to the lens and you caught very well her expression. I love the contrasting colors of her clothes against the vivid green settings.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice evening

I think everybody wishes to view her missing feet, but situation may not work the way we wish to at times while vividly quick capturing the depth, natural expressions and the honest emotions. This is a kind 'street candid' I always love & enjoy to do myself as this provides a real world, spur-of-the-moment liveliness capturing her off guard. The concentration, surroundings and slice of life which is what interested me here. Exposure is good in a rather harsh lighting but delicious in colours have boosted the visual quality. A picture telling story, Congrats

Interesting candid from van window of this classical clothed Kodari women with harvest basket, and I suspect the "weed" is much more profitable than the wheat.
Some of our U.S. States are changing laws on Cannabis legalization. California permits its sale for medical reasons (doctor approval required). Colorado just approved Cannabis for recreational use.
Thanks for sharing,
