Photographer’s Note
The Bodhnath area of Kathmandu shelters a community of Tibetan refugees from the Chinese occupation of their homeland. A huge stupa or chorten was built here in the eighth century by a Tibetan king. The area around the chorten has become a center for Tibetan exiles and for the practice of Tibetan Buddhism. As the sun sets every day, the people come out in their hundreds to walk around the Chorten repeating the mantra 'Om Mani Padmi Oum'. Here two monk sit meditating amid the prayer flags as the day ends.

Hi Kevin,
I like the framing of the stupa between the masts and prayer flags, i like also the transparence of the sais flags... sharpness and exposure look fine to me, though i think there is a blueish cast on the picture... and the title? it doesn't really look like sunset ;D
Best regards

Bodnath is such a great and inspiring place. The afternoon light works really well with the golden stupa. You may have been able to remvoe a bit of the bluish cast on the bottom part at PP time. Nonetheless a very pleasant one.

You composed that place in an original way. It was a good idea to have the flags in the foreground (even if we can't see the monks).
The light and the shadow are well managed despite a strong contrast.
And the place seems finally unreal...

Hi Kevin!
It's always nice to see this place. Here you framed it very well. I like this light and the composition with the two monks behind the little transparent flags, it adds more magic to the place.Nice to see this photo now that the Dalai Lama has been visiting my country.

Hi Kevin
You have chosen nn interesting composition and POV for this shot. Even though the stupa which is the main object here is covered by the colored festoons it doesnt distract. The framing provided by the sticks adds another dimension to this picture. The colors and the details are fine. The only thing I would probably change is to crop a bit of the bottom (and show the monks if it would have been possible or leave them out all together) But i guess its difficult if not impossible to obtain such ideal conditions when shooting in public spaces.
Cheers

Hi Kevin,
The wide framing between the pov works well to me, ant the timimg looks fine to have the subject in the light while the foreground is already in the shade, so we see at once what the subject is, and it's a nice and colorful one, the image would work well without them but the two persons are a bonus.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Bonjour Kevin,
Bonne idée, que tous ces drapeaux et leurs ombres. Dommage qu'il y ait les deux personnes assises au fond.

Hi Kevin,
I like the composition and the format chosen as well as the POV. The golden pagoda framed by the colorful poles is an effective compo. The light and the blue sky on the background adds a lot to the picture.
Regards,
Flavia
