Photographer’s Note

My first morning in Nyaung Shwe.
I woke up early and first i was disappointed with all the fog.I walked for a while and not far from my guesthouse"four sisters" I saw the first sunrays shining through the fog and these clouds.
The owners of the guesthouse are indeed 4 sisters and Ludwig (Lulu) from Nürnberg.He visited Burma 16 years ago for the first time,spent the oldest sister one year at the highschool,came back and back and back,spent some more money for the highschool and two years later he was married with Saingee,the youngest one.They built their guesthouse a very nice and friendly place.They are in Myanmar from November to April and the rest of the year they live in Germany.
They offer a rich breakfast and if you want diner too.
No big choice,only one maindish with many ,many delicious sidedishes,local specialities.
No fixed price,you pay what you want!
After diner it was very interesting to listen to Lulu`s and Saingee`s stories about local live and the problems people have there.
Thank you Saingee and Ludwig for wonderful 5 days and your warm hospitality.
Ludwig is now 70 years old and we had a nice halfdaytrip to some caves where some monks live,not mentioned in the guidebooks.
Aldo asked why it`s so dark,shooting against the sun.

Für die Stimmung, die Du hier eingefangen hast, passt wirklich "atemberaubend" am besten. Ein wunderschönes Foto - und eines Deiner besten! Du weißt, "Meisterwerk" kommt mir selten über die Lippen - aber hier passt's! Großartig!!!

this is a great shot, you should be thankful for the fog that day! :-)
This photo almost looks like it is not real, rather it can look like it is a collage from several photos, because so many beautiful moments simply don´t appear at the same time!
Your composition and framing is absolutely superb here, not doubt about that. This one´s ideal for a big print...

Lieber Leo ... Das haut mich glatt vom Fenster weg. Du hast die Magie dieses Morgens eingefangen in seiner vollen Pracht. Solche Morgen gibt es nur in Asien finde ich und es gibt nichts anderes als einfach aufstehen, auch wenn man nicht mag, es ist das absolute Muss, sonst verpasst man Momente wie genau diesen. Diese Flocken am Himmel und wie die Sonne knapp durchscheint, das macht Dir so schnell keiner nach. Die Stille des Morgens kommt rueber und man moechte meditieren in der Pagode drueben, oder auf dem Schiffli sich treiben lassen. Keine Angst ich fange nicht an zu weinen :) oder nur ein wenig vielleicht. So so die vier Schwestern, welche war die Deine ... ich mache nur Spass, keine Details! Barbara.

dieser Tempelbezirk und die Stimmung dort muss phantastisch sein. Die Sonne steht schon etwas hoch, und ich nehme an, Du hast das Foto mit der Tonwertkorrektur etwas zugemacht. Dadurch entsteht ein wunderschöner Lichteffekt.

Wow, this is an excellent shot! The lone figure on the boat is perfectly positioned in the picture to show the shape of the silhoette. The other really interesting thing is the sun and the way it shows off the pattern of the clouds. Great exposure management and a beautiful shot!

Guten Mittag Andreas,

You was in excellent company in this guesthouse, maybe speaks this people already little bit German.
Through the dark atmosphere, get we a wonderful image, the sun through the clouds and little bit reflection, also the lady and her boat as silhouette, this gives a wonderful composition.

Hi, Leo. The sky you've captured is really amazing. The clouds make it look like water. The composition is very carefully studied with the boat in the foreground and the temples on the right. They both give a very good depth to the image. The river banks leads us along a nice diagonal line towards the background where the mist seems to be clearing up slowly and reveals the silhouettes of the trees in the distance.

Seeing this image i know what i missed...perfect light..!!! Man this is really a good one, it has a fantastic mood in pure serenity, very peaceful.

few day back I commented one capture from the same place, almost the same central motive (man and his boat) but of completely different ambient. I promised my self to return and also express my compliments for this one. I do not know how you did it but it has such a magical atmosphere, fantastic ambiental output of amazing and very subtle colour accent. Unbelievable how different they are but both of superb quality and creation. My compliments!

A bliss of a shot...the sun looks to me shimmering behind the clouds as if it was a reflection! The silhouette of the boat & the boatman just off the reflecting sun, the white stupas in the still darkish light completes this amazing composition. Outstanding!

Ok this scene is another worthy and highly recommended to view in TE.

I don't quite know where should I begin.

The elements I love in this picture is the water, the reflection of the sun and those sweet and dark colours create a strong feeling.
The soul of this picture is of course the man in the cane, but the most attractive element is the sun.
The foggy background is completing this wonderful picture flawlessly, enhancing the feeling I previously mentioned.

For me this is one of the best and most beautiful photos of Myanmar I've seen here on TE. It has eveything, the typical pagodas, the man and his boat in silhouette, the sun rising appearing thru the mist, and those clouds creating such a beautiful patchwork in the sky, and most important this soft light brightening up softly the scene.
Definetely a favorite.
