Photographer’s Note
I`m back from a wonderful travel to South East Asia.
2 weeks in southern Laos,2 weeks in Cambodia and 3 weeks in Myanmar.
I wanted to start posting last sunday evening, but my "best friend",the German Telecom destroyed my plans.
I came home sunday, late afternoon to my very cold flat(no heating for more than 7 weeks)and my telephone and internet was broken......
This is no B&W shot.
This is the early morning fog above Inle lake near the village Nam Pan.
The photo is taken with 300 mm and a shutter speed of 1/1000 sec.Photo is taken from a boat.
About Myanmar:
In comparism with my last travel to this wonderful country with it`s extreme friendly people,13 month ago, there have been about only 20 % tourists now.
Many people working with tourists in restaurants, hotels,eg.are unempoloyed now.
My horsecartdriver in Bagan told me,If there will not come more tourists till the rainy season starts he has to take his son from the highschool, because he will not be able to pay for it anymore.....
I`m back with about 20 GB,so I can entertain you....
Have a nice evening, my dear TE Family,
I missed you!

Hi Andreas,
Uma composição soberba, não sei se será minimalista mas isso também não interessa. O importante é que você teve a sorte de estar perto desta linda cena e poder muito bem fotografa-la. A atmosfera,a cor/luz "soft" deram este belo resultado.
Best regards,

A very simple shot with very high impact. Just fog, but what a great shot it is.

welcome back :) and I know the feeling of missing TE - during our much shorter trip we were constantly inquiring about the closest place with the internet connection :)
back to the photo - amazing shot! the total lack of colours and details create a very strong sense of soft silence, I like it a lot (goes to my favourites). excellent example that the beauty lies in simplicity. great work, my compliments.
looking forward to next posts,

Hola Andreas.
Nice to see you back from your wonderful trip, sorry to see that the situation in Myanmar is not well, hope thing will get better for the sake of the people.
Your shot is superb, the foggy day really made your composition, very well captured from a good POV. Good work.

Hello Leo!
Yes it is like you said! The fog making a minimalist view for both of us in the bay... very far from each other, but similar. The figures in your photo are much more original and appealing, since they are local native fishermen. My subject is much more from this century, showing sport fishermen enjoying their weekend fishing. Its not easy to take pictures in the fog, and I see that I had less fog between me and the fishermen comparing to your situation. So your image is a little bit more soft, but I see that this softeness fits well to your pictoresque fishermen. Excellent work, Leo! Your Myanmar galery is wonderful and I am looking forward to see your new series about it.
All the best!

Hallo Leo,
Surprised to read about your continuing saga with Deutsche Telekom. Welcome back! Great effect by the fog here. You could even go for fully dark silhouettes but I like the low contrast version a lot. This is a terrific start and I look forward to seeing more. Sorry that the situation has become tough for the locals economically but I'm sure tourism will pick up in time. Regards,

Hi, Leo. Nice to see you back and happy to hear that you enjoyed your trip. You show us an amazing photo here with a fantastic atmosphere. It looks like a Japanese or Chinese painting. The silhouettes of the three men on their boats are really great. A simple but very efficient composition.

Hallo Andreas,
Welcome back and Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Welcome home Andreas! I was eagerly waiting for your pictures to popup since sunday and did not see anything coming yet. Great picture to start with, very delicate, very pure, very asian, a bit like a chinese ink painting with a touch of zen feeling. I cannot wait until I see your long trip unfold here on TE in the coming weeks. You were in the region of the world I like the most and in which I was also myself recently but for a much shorter amount of time.

Hi Leo!
German Telecom must have wished you a very warm welcome home in their own way. I hope you had a very good holiday nevertheless.
The grey tones work really well here without any distinctive fore- or background visible. The three fishermen all seem to do the same, they are about to throw out their nets or probably just did so (middle).
Did you start to shoot in RAW format or did you use JPG still?

Hello Andreas,
Welcome back! When I first viewed this photo on the small thumbnails it looked liked three very quick and well placed brush strokes like the ones done on the Japanese paintings. I like your placement on the upper 1/3 line. The empty space created by the placement on the lower 1/3 line would have been too noticeable. Great work with this mysterious image!

Hi Leo,
Welcome back!
20GB is quite an impressive harvest! Nice scene here, with a natural B&W moody atmosphere. Nice silhouettes in the fog preventing any horizon to be visible...
Was it everyday this weather there, as i am going there soon!?
Maybe pushing the contrast and sharpness would have increased the visual impact, but on the other hand, it cannot be so sharp in the fog!
Friendly regards

Hallo Leo! Barbara.

Hi Leo,
your gallery is fantastic. So many excellent shots, hard to embrace them all equally at first look. Maybe that is way this one somehow stepped out from others, because of its magnificent minimlistic approach. Three boats, three human sulhuettes and all around calm and quiet surroundings in form of water blending with sky withouth clear border, only felt by mild reflections. Marvelous capture. Simply magnificent.
Kind regards,
