Photographer’s Note

Somewhere in the central Burma plateau, in the Shan State.

Us, a water buffalo, a young cowboy and some hundreds of Karen Danu walking away, in a perfect silence.

Walking on the fields without shoes, with the typicall clothes and dresses, silver jewells, the typical bags, women, men and children...and nobody talk, just silence and the sound of the fields, insects, crickets...the real Sound of Silence.

Thats a very fresh and colourful image with the life so clearly in focus. i love the tones and hues here and also the textures that you have achieved and the action is superb.All those people are brilliantly framed.Its a nice composition from a great pov and with good use of the dof.

your classical strong saturation (particularly green) works very well here, making this picture looking like an illustration to some rhapsody song...

Hi Paolo,
No need for sharpness here though at first sight it looks so. The water buffalo and the child are the heroes of this colorful Burma shot. No sky and full grass makes it so close to us. Figures marching to the depth create excellent perspective. It is amazing to see what places you have been to in order to take photos and so different styles and subjects in your gallery.

Interesting observation on the people... must be part of their meditation. Pretty good for a scanned image ... although there is a bit of loss on sharpness ... but color tones are still good. Well done ...tfs.

Great Myanmar shot with so beautiful warm colours. i love buffalos they are really part of the landscape and atmosphere in these south east asian countries. very plesant one!

This scene reminds me of my last year visit to the Philippines. The water buffaloes are indeed a farmer's friend and surprisingly very friendly. This is a good daily rural life scene with many engaging details. Good work on scanning. Best wishes, Danilo

The effects of scan shows but its a good image nonetheless. A very unique third world country image, the countryside could well have been somewhere in India.

Rural scenes are usually very nice and this one is very well captured. You did a good work with the scanner. Colours are very well saturated and the composition is great with the buffalo and the boy in the foreground and then that endless line of people. Good work!
