Getting up early is always a must for making the best shots. The light in here is beautiful, and the last remains of the clouds are very well exposed and maks this picture a real good obe.

A beautiful scene, with the golden pagoda looming out of the morning mists. The whole scene has a marvellous light, and the palm fronds poking out of the mist look wonderful. A very fine shot, well done.

There are many very good photos here of sunrise in Maruk U, but there is alwasy room for more of this quality. The light here is beautiful and so well exposed, makes getting up early worth every minute.

What a beautiful image! You are right, getting up early can lead one to marvelous images like this one. I like how the morning light highlight the temple and the fog/mist accentuates the scene and adds an air of mystery. The exposure, composition, DOF, etc, etc are spot on. Excellent image! Well done!

I don't know how I've missed this amazing photo until now! BUT better late than never.
I'm sure there's nothing different I can say about it; the light is incredible and it was certainly worth getting up early, for the mist as well as the light. Of course your high POV was essential and the off-centre composition of the pagoda perfect. First-class work.

What a place & what a shot! Amazing colour tones heightened by the early morning light as the low mist hug the landscape. Contrast is superb with the earthy colours of the Schwedaung Pagoda contrasting with the greens. wonderful picture... so full of mystical presence. I like it very much. I've always dreamed about making this kind of photo and never succedded... but last week, nearly at 4.00 PM it happened. I saw solitary trees on the hill, some houses with smoke from the chimney, few layers of hills and all in wonderful low sun backlight... but we were in a hurry to the doctor's visit. The doctor said everything is O.K. but I was without a picture. But only until today... now I put yours in my favourites gallery, so I can look at it everytime I want to ;)))

Wow - Leo, ich bin sprachlos, der Moment ist einzigartig schön!
Wir hatten Glück und Pech zugleich mit dem Wetter, es war bedeckt und ein wenig regnerisch. Das jedoch war positiv, denn bei den angenehmen Temparaturen konnten wir gerade in Bagan sehr viel besichtigen (ohne uns die Fußsohlen zu verbrennen ;-)

Bonjour Andreas,
la photo magique.
On se demande si on admire une photo ou alors une peinture, mais quel que soit le cas, le résultat est fabuleux.
Cette petite pagode ressort très bien avec ses couleurs de feu, le soleil semble ne vouloir illuminer qu'elle, elle surgit de la brume.

I don't exaggerate when I say this is my favorite photo from Trekearth so far. I find the shape of Burmese pagodas so alluring to begin with, and this is placed in a magical context. You have perfectly exposed the misty surrounds and they are highly evocative of mystery and mystique. Then there is the beautiful contrast of green on the deep rust colored pagoda and earth. Delightful, thank you for making the effort.

Wow, I thought you could only get shots like this in Bagan, Leo. I haven't been to Mrauk U yet, but this photograph has convinced me that I must combine it with my next trip to Bagan. Hello Andreas,

How can I critique such a picture if all I can use are some words and a smiley? I bet everyone would dream about taking such a photo!
The composition is excellent! You placed the pagoda in one of the strongest point of the picture and the warm sunrise light falls in the same place! The mists in the valleys create a great, mysterious atmosphere. It seems that every detail is a witness of the century long history in those places!
The distribution of the color saturation also favors the pagoda and the area around it! Sorry I can only award you two points! Very well done! Thank you!

Your Myanmar shots are stunning. It seem that the country inspired you to raise your photography to another level. The clouds/mist in this shot add a lot of mood but the lighting on the actual stupa itself helps to just pick it out in the busy frame. GREAT!

I enthusiastically join the chorus of admirers of this remarkable shot. The composition and perspective, the interplay of light and shadow, and the colors and definition are spectacular. The amorphos quality of the fog serves as a counterpoint to the well define image of the temple complex. This is a surreal image, but the note is informative enough to make it real.

This is so beautiful Leo,¨that it is hard to believe it is real. I was also at Bagan some 10 years ago¨but was not able to capture this kind of unreal beauty. May be I should include Mrauk U in my next Myanmara expedition.
