Photographer’s Note
And we continue our trip in Myanmar/Burma ...
Landing at the airport in Heho you have to drive about one hour to reach the Inle-Lake.
It is nearly 100 km North to South but only 5 km wide and there are more than 200 villages around it supporting a population of 150000. Most are Intha People - Intha means sons of the lake.
The main sight is Phaung Daw U pagoda.
Phaung Daw is the name of the royal bird.
It houses five 12th century Buddha images which have completely lost their shape due to the fact that devotees are constantly plastering them with gold leaves.
Every year there is a procession with boats starting from this pagoda, bringing these Buddhas to all the villages around.
In 1965 at the annual Phaung Daw U festival, the royal boat capsized in a storm and the the Buddhas sank. They only found 4 of them.
When they came back to the Pagoda, the 5th Buddha was standing on it's place - as if by a miracle.
Now I hope you like this story and also the shot showing this colourful Pagoda captured from inside our little boat. It was a wondeful day.
Thanks for looking and any words.

Wishnu,
I really like the reflection on the water, the people on the boat made this picture lively. Interesting story on the 5th Buddha.

Hello Sabine,
I like your centred composition, balanced by assymetrical details!
Great reproduction of this colourful architecture, sharpness and details are amazing...
Nice reflection distorted by the water plants!

You have a wonderful and very satisfying symmetry in the pagoda and its reflection. The picture has a lovely mottled and rich texture. I like the speeding boat, full of people, that gives a sense of movement to what would otherwise have been a rather static scene. Regards Kevin

Hi Wishnu,
South East Asia is a mesmerising place where one can go back over and over again - Myanmar should be pretty much on top of that list. Excellent post of the Pagoda and its reflections, nice story too. Thanks for sharing.
