... well pretty much anything boys of their age do. in myanmar becoming a novice monk is often a financial decision of the family rather than a spiritual one, you get a free education and room and board... these boys were playing video games in a gameroom near their monastery...

Nice documentary scene - the young monks are a funny, cheeky lot, that's for sure. I love to see them do anything else but pray...like here.
Well seen and captured.

If what you say is correct and accuratre, I have least regard for such traderes.
Monk as we say in India-Sanyassin, is the person who willingly renounces the comforts of famiyl life in order to struggle for the highest ideal. Renounciation is the only meaninf of Monkhood. Sidhartha renounced his kinggdeom, his palace, dance and singing, his wife, his only son Rahul, left everything in search for Truth.
Here I find exactly the opposite. To wear Ochre rob, you must be a lion and not a beggar. Still I would cross check to waht you have said.

Rajeev

Great documentary shot Mark. Monks or not, boys are boys and boys like boy stuff, which mean a lot of games involving pain, blood and petend death. Even if they are supposed to be monks. No surprise at all to me. It looks as though you were really permitted to get into the bowels of some of these places and see what makes them tick.

It's cool to me to see a little insight into a world I know almost nothing about, Thanks for this shot and note, it helps to show how cultures are adapting out there. Well done.
